On the evening of the 7th, earthquakes occurred consecutively in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, a magnitude 2.0 earthquake occurred at 7:55 p.m. and a magnitude 2.5 earthquake occurred at 11:08 p.m. in a region 17 kilometers southwest of Gyeongju. The depths of the earthquake epicenters were estimated to be 15 kilometers and 16 kilometers, respectively.

For maximum instrumental intensity, North Gyeongsang Province was estimated at 3, while South Gyeongsang Province, Daegu, and Ulsan were estimated at 2. An intensity of 3 means that 'people indoors, such as on upper floors of buildings, feel it distinctly, and stationary vehicles shake slightly,' while an intensity of 2 indicates 'a vibration felt by a few people in quiet places or on upper floors of buildings.'

The earthquake occurrence area on this day is approximately 10 kilometers away from the site where the largest earthquake of magnitude 5.8 occurred since domestic earthquake monitoring began on Sept. 12, 2016.
