Elementary school student A, who is in Daegu, moves to a nearby children's center after finishing school lessons with a 'school drop-off and pick-up assistant.' Here, she does her homework and interacts with her peers until her dual-income parents get off work. This is so-called 'after-school gap care service.' Thanks to this service, A's parents can concentrate on their work until their office hours, feeling assured.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 7th that it has selected Daegu's 'after-school gap care service' as an excellent case through the 'results of the joint evaluation of local governments.' The joint evaluation of local governments is a system in which the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, together with central administrative agencies, evaluates the performance of national delegated tasks, projects subsidized by the government, and major national policies in 17 provinces and cities across the country to ensure the integration, efficiency, and accountability of national governance.
This year, indicators related to solving recent social issues such as securing public safety, enhancing environmental management, and transporting local emergency patients were reflected. The evaluation was conducted in the areas of ▲ quantitative evaluation (98 indicators, goal achievement level) ▲ qualitative evaluation (17 indicators, excellent cases) ▲ public evaluation (excellent cases).
In the case of the quantitative evaluation, the overall average goal achievement level was 94.53%. Among cities, Ulsan, Sejong, and Daegu had high goal achievement levels, and among provinces, Jeonnam, Gyeongnam, and Gyeonggi/Gyeongbuk followed. In the qualitative evaluation, a total of 68 excellent cases were selected. In cities, Daegu (9 cases), Gwangju (6 cases), and Daejeon/Sejong (5 cases each) ranked highest, while in provinces, Gyeonggi (8 cases), Gyeongbuk/Jeju (5 cases each) followed. The public evaluation involved a review by the public evaluation committee on 34 excellent cases selected by each province and city, which resulted in the selection of 10 cases.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety decided to disclose the results of this evaluation on the 'My Local Information' website. Additionally, it plans to provide earmarked tax (special) and reward those who contributed to the execution of tasks based on the evaluation results.
