The police have launched an investigation into Baek Jong-won, representative of Theborn Korea, on suspicion of including false information about food ingredients in advertisements.

The Seoul Gangnam Police Station is investigating Representative Baek and the Theborn Korea corporation on charges of violating the Food Labeling and Advertising Act.

Previously, in April, Gangnam District received a complaint alleging that Theborn Korea used Vietnamese farmed shrimp in its "Deopjjuk" product while advertising it as "domestic" and "natural," containing false information. After confirming these facts, it requested an investigation from the police.

The police are also investigating Representative Baek for allegations of false advertising related to other products. There are suspicions that the "Cheon-deuk sweet potato bread" product operated by Representative Baek uses imported ingredients while promoting it as made from domestic agricultural products, and that Theborn Korea used cooking utensils made of industrial metals at local festivals while presenting them as made of food-grade metals.
