The Seoul High Court announced on the 2nd that it received the record of the retrial of the violation of the Public Official Election Act case involving Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate, from the Supreme Court. However, the distribution of the case to a specific panel has not yet been made.

The Seoul High Court stated in a notice sent to reporters that "the record of Lee Jae-myung’s Public Official Election Act case has arrived from the Supreme Court," adding, "the case has not been assigned to a panel."

On the 1st, the Supreme Court's en banc panel overturned the previous ruling of not guilty for the 'violation of the Public Official Election Act' case involving the candidate Lee and sent it back to the Seoul High Court for retrial. Lee received a guilty verdict in the first trial and not guilty in the second trial, but the Supreme Court reversed the second trial’s ruling.

The Seoul High Court noted that "after the Supreme Court sends the case record to the Seoul High Court, the panel assignment procedure will take place" and "which panel will handle the retrial remains undecided until the assignment procedure is complete, and the existing appellate panel (Criminal Division 6) that previously acquitted the candidate will be excluded from the assignment."
