Kim Sung-jin, 32, who carried out a knife attack at a supermarket in Mia-dong, Gangbuk District, Seoul, has been handed over to the prosecution.

Earlier, at around 6:20 p.m. on the 22nd of last month, Kim Sung-jin opened the packaging of a knife displayed in a nearby supermarket and swung it at people, leading to his arrest as a flagrant offender. A woman in her 60s, who was attacked, died, and another victim, a woman in her 40s, was injured.

After the crime, Kim Sung-jin calmly smoked a cigarette in a nearby alley and called the police himself at 112. It was investigated that Mr. Kim was wearing a patient gown from a nearby orthopedics department during the crime and had been hospitalized at that hospital.

The Seoul Northern District Court issued an arrest warrant for Kim Sung-jin on the 24th of last month, citing concerns that he might flee. Additionally, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency released his face, name, and age on the 29th of last month, stating, "The brutality of the crime, the seriousness of the harm, and the existence of sufficient evidence for the crime are recognized, and public disclosure of identity is necessary for crime prevention and the public interest."
