From May 1 to 6, taking annual leave will allow for a consecutive 6-day holiday period, and rain is expected during the 'plop plop' forecast. While good weather is likely on the 2nd and 4th, which are Saturday and Sunday, rain is anticipated on the other holidays.
Kong Sang-min, a forecast analyst at the Korea Meteorological Administration, said in a regular briefing on the 30th, "The 2nd and 4th will generally be clear, but there is a possibility of precipitation on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th," adding, "It will be a period suitable for travel, but the weather will be quite variable."
Tomorrow, May 1, it will rain across the country from the morning. Strong rainfall of more than 10 mm per hour is anticipated in most areas, along with thunder, lightning, and gusts. In northern Gyeonggi and the mountainous regions of Jeju, heavy rain exceeding 50 mm and 60 mm, respectively, is expected in some areas. While the rain is likely to stop on the same day, Ulleungdo and Dokdo may continue to experience rain until the 2nd. The ongoing 'dry weather advisory' issued for most areas is expected to be lifted as rain falls.
On Friday, the 2nd, it will be sunny. The pressure trough that brought rain the day before will have passed, placing the Korean Peninsula under the influence of high pressure. The maximum temperature during the day is forecasted to be 22 degrees.
On Saturday, the 3rd, it will be generally cloudy, with rain expected again primarily in the region south of Chungcheong. The intensity of the precipitation is expected to be weaker than the 1st. In areas where rain is not forecasted, there may still be some raindrops.
On the 4th, it will generally be clear. However, as the atmosphere becomes dry, particularly in the eastern regions, strong winds from the west are expected, necessitating caution against wildfire occurrences.
On the 5th, it will be a cloudy day. Although precipitation is not currently forecasted, there is a possibility of rain in the southern regions and Jeju Island depending on the development of a low-pressure system in the south. The cloudy weather is expected to continue on the 6th, with chances of rain in the capital region or the western part of Gangwon. A representative from the Korea Meteorological Administration noted, "It is important to check the latest weather information on the 5th and 6th."
As the rain falls, temperatures will be about 2 degrees lower than usual for the time being. Morning temperatures will also drop, causing the daily temperature difference to widen to around 10 degrees, so care should be taken for health management.
