Police announced the results of an investigation related to an incident where an SK Telecom (SKT) user was unaware that a low-cost phone had been activated, resulting in 50 million won being withdrawn from their bank account, stating it is unlikely to be connected to the SKT hacking incident.

The Busan police cyber crime investigation unit stated on the 30th that as a result of a preliminary investigation related to this, they confirmed that it is unlikely to be connected to the SKT SIM card information leak.

User A, an SKT customer, realized on the 22nd that their SKT mobile phone was suddenly deactivated, and a low-cost phone from KT was activated in their name. They later discovered that 50 million won had been transferred to an unknown person from their account and reported it to the Busan Southern Police Station.

The Busan police cyber crime investigation unit received the case from the Southern Police Station and investigated its connection to the SKT hacking incident. The police are conducting an investigation, considering the possibility that this incident may be linked to smishing or other crimes through witness statements.
