A fire broke out in an electric taxi in Busan.

According to Yonhap News Agency, around 4:50 a.m. on the 30th, a fire broke out in an electric taxi in front of a shopping complex in Gaegum-dong, Busanjin-gu, Busan. The fire burned most of the vehicle and was extinguished after 1 hour and 50 minutes.

The vehicle suffered property damage of about 40 million won. The driver in his 60s, Mr. A, and one passenger quickly exited the car, and there were no injuries.

Mr. A told the police that he heard a 'thud' sound from the bottom of the vehicle while driving, and after stopping, he and the customer got out to find flames coming from underneath. Mr. A also mentioned that there was a large piece of metal on the road.

The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident, reporting that thermal runaway occurred due to damage to the vehicle battery caused by the metal object on the road.
