A 17-year-old boy, A, who injured six people, including teachers, by wielding a weapon inside and outside a high school in Cheongju, was arrested on the 30th.

On the same day, Kim Kyung-chan, the Director General of the Cheongju District Court, held a pre-arrest interrogation (substantial examination of the warrant) for A in the afternoon and stated, "Considering that the suspect planned the crime and carried out indiscriminate acts against a large number of people, there is an unavoidable reason to detain him, even though he is a minor," adding, "There is a risk of flight, so I will issue the warrant."

Earlier, A appeared at the court around 1:25 p.m. to attend the warrant hearing. He bowed his head in response to questions from the press and said twice, "I apologize," before entering the building.

A is accused of injuring six people, including staff and residents, by wielding a weapon or using physical force in the school hallways, around 8:33 a.m. on the 28th. A is known to be borderline intellectually disabled and has been found to have experienced general difficulties in school life, including peer relationships.
