Police said on the 28th that they are investigating a case in which customer personal information was leaked due to a hacking attack at SK Telecom.

A Korean National Police Agency official noted at a regular briefing that "on the 22nd, a request for investigation was received from SK Telecom for suspected violations of the Telecommunications Business Act, and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Cyber Investigation Unit is conducting preliminary investigations." They explained that they are not yet at the stage to identify the hacking group.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will also participate in the public-private joint investigation team established by the Ministry of Science and ICT to determine the cause of the SK Telecom hacking incident.

The official stated, "Currently, no financial damage has been reported." If a financial damage incident occurs in relation to the SK Telecom hacking, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will investigate.

However, it was reported that on the morning of the same day, a man in his 60s in Busan filed a report stating that his SK Telecom mobile phone was canceled without his knowledge and a budget phone in his name was opened, leading to 50 million won being withdrawn from his bank account.
