A student wielded a weapon at a high school in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, injuring six people, including a teacher and residents.
According to the police, around 8:30 a.m. on the 28th, a special education class student went on a stabbing spree at a high school in downtown Cheongju. Following that, at about 8:40 a.m., reports were received by the police stating that 'a student stabbed a teacher' and 'the weapon was taken away and the student fled.'
As a result of the incident, four teachers, including the principal, and two residents were injured. It is reported that the injuries are not life-threatening. The student who was involved in the incident was rescued after jumping into a nearby lake and was transferred to a nearby hospital.
The involved student has been found to suffer from severe intellectual disabilities and anger management issues. It was determined that the student brought the weapon from home to school.
Police are investigating the precise circumstances of the incident.
