The government will push for emergency restoration in areas affected by forest fires before the rainy season to prepare for landslides.
On the 25th, the Ministry of Interior and Safety held a meeting of the 'Forest Fire Damage Area Landslide Disaster Response Task Force (TF)' and announced that restoration in areas needing emergency recovery based on damage assessment and urgent diagnosis results will be completed by June 15.
The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Korea Forest Service, Korea Meteorological Administration, Gyeongsangnam-do, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Ulsan, Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources, and the Korea Safety Association for Steep Slopes. The Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources presented on landslide prediction technology and its application, discussing the implementation status of each agency's measures and evacuation plans for residents.
The government is also conducting emergency repairs by installing waterproof tarps and ton bags on steep slopes and roads, as well as maintaining drainage systems.
