A man in his 50s, who murdered five family members, including his parents and children, has been handed over to prosecutors.

According to the police on the 24th, the Yongin Western Police Station transferred Mr. A, who was arrested on charges of murder and infanticide, to the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office that morning. The prosecution plans to indict Mr. A after conducting supplementary investigations.

Mr. A was moved to the prosecutors' office in a transport vehicle from the Yongin Eastern Police Station, where the detention center is located. Just before getting into the transport vehicle, he nodded in response to a reporter's question asking, “Do you admit to planning the crime?” He did not answer questions such as, “Did you have to kill your family?” or “Aren't you sorry?”

Mr. A is accused of sedating his family of five, including his elderly parents in their 80s, his wife in her 50s, and two daughters in their 10s to 20s, at their home in Suji District, Yongin, on the night of the 14th, and then strangling them to death. After the crime, he left a note stating, “I will kill everyone and then die,” and fled to an officetel in Gwangju, where he was staying for business, using a passenger car, before being caught by the police the following dawn.

Mr. A stated that he committed the crime because he could not burden his family with debt after being sued by contractors for 'fraudulent leasing' while running a business related to apartment sales.
