The Ministry of Interior and Safety reported on the 23rd that the fiscal execution amount in the first quarter of this year reached 101.6 trillion won. This represents a 5.9% increase compared to both the initial target amount (99.2 trillion won) and the same period last year (95.9 trillion won).
As difficulties such as economic recession continued, the government emphasized the importance of 'rapid execution,' allocating and executing finances early. To this end, the Ministry of Interior and Safety established the 'Local Government Finance Rapid Execution Support Team' and also formed 'Rapid Execution Promotion Teams' at the city and provincial level to monitor the situation.
The Ministry of Interior and Safety decided to provide incentives, including a total of 10 billion won in earmarked tax (special), to 145 exemplary local governments that actively executed finances rapidly.
The government plans to execute 171.5 trillion won in finances by the end of the first half of the year. A Ministry of Interior and Safety official noted, "As regions are facing difficulties due to large wildfires and a slowdown in the construction industry, we will strive to ensure that rapid execution can serve as a catalyst for regional economic recovery."
