A day ahead of the release of author Han Kang's new work "Light and Shadow," major bookstores began online pre-sales on the 23rd.

"Light and Shadow" is the ninth book in the "Munji Écriture" prose series by Literature and Thought. It includes 12 pieces, including the Nobel Prize in Literature acceptance speech that shares the same title, as well as unpublished poems and prose, and a diary written by the author after acquiring a house with a north-facing room and a garden for the first time in 2019.

The three pieces of prose being published for the first time this time are "North-Facing Garden," "Garden Diary," and "After Living More. Among them, "North-Facing Garden" addresses the experiences the author had while tending to the garden after purchasing a north-facing house with a four-pyeong garden in 2019.

The book also contains photos taken by author Han Kang with a mobile phone. These include pictures of the garden, workspace, and donated teacups, and the cover photo was also taken by Han Kang. The last page of the book features a photo of a poem written during childhood.
