The government has decided not to designate May 2 as a temporary holiday, which means the longest "golden holiday" of six days has also been canceled.

According to related departments on the 23rd, the government is not considering the option of designating May 2 as a temporary holiday. If May 2 were to be designated as a temporary holiday, employees would have six days off, starting from Labor Day on May 1 through Children's Day on May 5 and a substitute holiday on May 6, leading to significant expectations.

The designation of a temporary holiday is decided after discussions with relevant departments, with the Ministry of Personnel Management submitting the issue to the Cabinet meeting for deliberation. However, it is reported that there was a strong sentiment that even if a temporary holiday were designated, the effect on stimulating domestic demand would not be significant.

During the recent Lunar New Year holiday on Jan. 27, a temporary holiday was designated to stimulate domestic demand, but ultimately, the only result was an increase in overseas travel.
