A suspect arrested for allegedly damaging a parked Tesla electric pickup truck, "Cybertruck," in the streets of Gangnam, Seoul, has been identified as a Chinese tourist.
According to the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul on the 23rd, a 30-year-old Chinese national, identified as A, is suspected of kicking the side mirror of a Cybertruck owned by a hospital around 2 a.m. on the 15th after entering the country on a travel visa.
After the crime, A moved to a nearby car dealership and kicked the doors of four test-drive BMW vehicles, damaging the passenger side. It has been determined that he also caused a disturbance at a convenience store by verbally abusing an employee and stealing an electronic cigarette just 10 minutes prior to damaging the Cybertruck.
Meanwhile, the repair cost for the damaged Cybertruck due to A's actions is expected to reach at least 3 million won. It is reported that repairs are not possible in South Korea, requiring the vehicle to be transported for service.
Police urgently arrested A on the afternoon of the 18th on charges of property damage, obstruction of work, and special assault, and obtained an arrest warrant the following day.
