According to the firefighting authorities on the 21st, around 6:59 p.m. that day, a ground subsidence phenomenon was reported near the Suji District Office Station in the Pungdeokcheon-dong area of Yongin City, along with reports of smoke.

Fire authorities dispatched to the scene with the police to control traffic around the road. Some ground subsidence was observed, but no sinkhole occurred, and there were no reported injuries or vehicle damage.

The ground subsidence phenomenon was identified as being caused by a rupture in the hot water piping that passes through this road.

A fire official noted, "Immediately after the report was received, firefighting and Suji District Office personnel responded on-site by shutting off the hot water valve, and we are investigating the extent of the damage."
