The National Association of Persons with Disabilities (Jeonjangyeon) staged a subway boarding protest on the morning of the 21st, causing trains to bypass Hyehwa Station on Seoul Metro Line 4 without stopping.
Seoul Transportation Corporation stated in a disaster text message sent around 9:18 a.m. on the same day that "due to the protest by Jeonjangyeon, trains on the downward line of Line 4 (toward Dongdaemun) are currently passing Hyehwa Station without stopping." Train services resumed around 9:34 a.m., after a 16-minute halt.
Jeonjangyeon began its 62nd "I take the subway during rush hour" protest at 8 a.m. at the Dongdaemun-bound platform of Hyehwa Station. Although Seoul Transportation Corporation employees attempted to prevent the protestors from boarding the trains, some protestors attempted to board around 8:45 a.m., resulting in a scuffle.
On this day, Jeonjangyeon planned to board Line 4 at Hyehwa Station and transfer to Line 9, intending to disembark at the National Assembly Station. Later, at 11 a.m., they will deliver policy demands to various political parties in front of the main building of the National Assembly, and participate in a concentrated resolution meeting hosted by the National Parents' Federation of Disabled Persons at the nearby Irump Center at 1 p.m.
