Two Chinese individuals were caught photographing near Osan Air Base (K-55), a U.S. military facility, prompting police to launch an investigation.

According to police on the 21st, the Southern Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency's Security Investigation Division is reviewing whether to formally charge the two Chinese individuals, including one identified as Mr. A, for violating the Military Base and Military Facility Protection Act. They are suspected of illicitly photographing the Osan Air Base and fighter jets around 9 a.m. on the same day.

It has not been confirmed what facilities or equipment were captured in the photos taken by them. Police are currently conducting an investigation in cooperation with the National Intelligence Service and the Defense Security Command. So far, no national security concerns have been identified.

On the 21st of last month, two Chinese teenagers were caught by police for illicitly photographing fighter jets taking off and landing at Suwon Air Base, where the Air Force's 10th Fighter Wing is stationed, using a DSLR camera and a mobile phone.

It has been identified that they took thousands of photos not only at Suwon Air Base but also at Osan Air Base, Pyeongtaek U.S. Base (K-6), and Cheongju Air Base, as well as at three major international airports, including Incheon, Gimpo, and Jeju. Police have secured a statement from one of the individuals, indicating that their father is in public security, and have launched a formal investigation.
