On the 18th, police are investigating two men in relation to a suspected attempted kidnapping of an elementary school student that occurred near an elementary school in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
The Suseo Police Station in Seoul stated that it is investigating two men who approached an elementary school student near a commercial area next to the school on the afternoon of the 17th. When the incident occurred, police received a report that "a stranger approached the student, saying he would buy them a drink, and attempted to take them somewhere."
School A sent a notice to parents on the day, urging them to instruct their children not to follow strangers, as well as people they know, without the guardian's permission. They also requested increased police patrols and plan to produce and distribute a suspect montage based on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.
Earlier, on the 16th, there was a report that an elementary school student was almost kidnapped while leaving school at elementary school B in Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu. Elementary school B requested cooperation from the Suseo Police Station and Gangnam District Office, and the police are currently verifying the facts. There are no individuals under investigation related to this incident.
