The city of Ulsan announced on the 18th that it will promote the launch of a new route between Ulleung Airport, currently under construction in Ulleung County, North Gyeongsang Province, and Ulsan Airport. To this end, the new small airline, Seamae Air, will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Airport Service for the 'activation of Ulsan Airport and the improvement of airline services.'
Seamae Air was established in November 2022 to build an air connectivity network between these airports and the mainland, in line with the opening of Ulleung Airport and Baengnyeong Airport.
According to the agreement, Seamae Air is actively operating new routes to and from Ulsan Airport. The launch date for the Ulsan-Ulleungdo route is expected to be as early as the end of 2027, depending on the completion of the currently under-construction Ulleung Airport. Seamae Air has also decided to actively promote the operation of new routes such as Ulsan-Gimpo and Ulsan-Jeju.
The city of Ulsan has decided to prepare administrative and financial support and measures to stimulate demand for Seamae Air's operations. Korea Airport Service plans to provide related facilities and improve airport facilities to ensure that Seamae Air can maintain continuous operations at Ulsan Airport.
