The Ministry of Employment and Labor has reportedly begun an investigation into POSCO Engineering & Construction for possible violations of the Serious Accident Punishment Act in relation to an accident in which one worker died due to the collapse of an underground tunnel construction site for the new Ansan Line in Gwangmyeong on the 17th.

The Serious Accident Act considers it a "serious industrial accident" when one or more workers die due to violations of safety and health obligations by the employer or management at business sites.

Earlier, an accident occurred at the Gwangmyeong Iljik-dong Ansan Line 5-2 construction site around 3:13 p.m. on the 11th, when a structure collapsed along with the upper road. A worker in their 50s, identified as Mr. A, belonging to POSCO Engineering & Construction, was buried and reported missing. Mr. A was found dead on the 16th at 8:11 p.m., about 125 hours after the accident.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor has exclusive jurisdiction over investigations into serious industrial accidents under the Serious Accident Act.
