Shin Suk-hee (25th Judicial Research and Training Institute) has been elected as a member of the Asia-Pacific Regional Board of the International Association of Women Judges for a 2-year term. She is the third Korean, following former Director General Kim Young-hye in 2006 and former Supreme Court Justice Min Yu-sook in 2010.
Justice Shin was elected as a regional board member at the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) meeting held in Cape Town, South Africa, from 9th to 12th.
IAWJ was established in 1991 and has members from 143 countries worldwide, totaling over 14,000. There are two members on the Asia-Pacific Regional Board, one representing Asia and one representing Oceania.
During this meeting, Justice Shin met with Mandisa Maya, the Chief Justice of South Africa, and conveyed an invitation for the International Conference in Sejong, hosted by the Supreme Court, to be held on September 22-23.
