According to the Mapo Fire Department on the 13th, a report was received around 8:50 a.m. that "the ground under the road has slightly sunk." There are no reported casualties or property damage.

The police are controlling vehicle access over two lanes next to exit 2 of Aoegae Station, where the ground has collapsed. The Seoul Transportation Corporation is also blocking access from exit 2 of Aoegae Station.

Mapo District officials stated that a sewer pipe located beneath the sinkhole was discovered to be broken at around 12:40 p.m. that day.

A Mapo District official noted, "The Seoul Western Road Office is investigating the exact cause and plans to take measures for road restoration, and we are still determining the correlation between the sewer pipe break and the sinkhole."

The Seoul Western Road Office has dug to investigate the lower part of the sinkhole to determine the exact cause.
