According to the fire authorities and Korea Electric Power Corporation, around 11 a.m. on the same day, power was cut off for about one hour to 4,828 apartments and dwellings in the area of Shingok-dong in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province.

As the electricity suddenly went out in apartment and church buildings, citizens were trapped in elevators and had to be rescued.

A Korea Electric Power Corporation official said, "It seems that a tree branch broken by the strong winds flew and touched the high-voltage distribution lines on the ground," adding, "Personnel were mobilized, and power was restored in about one hour."

Earlier, Gyeonggi Province issued a strong wind advisory across all 31 cities and counties as of 4 p.m. the previous day.

The province also sent a safety alert text message in the morning, stating, "Strong winds of more than 20 meters per second are expected until this afternoon, so please pay attention to safety."
