On the day former President Yoon Suk Yeol declared the '12.3 state of emergency,' police conducted a search and seizure on the internet media Sky Daily, which reported that 'the army had arrested 99 Chinese spies at the Central Election Commission's election training center.'

The Cyber Investigation Team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency reported that they searched Sky Daily's office in Gangnam District and its affiliated journalists from 9 a.m. for about three hours. They are being investigated by the police for allegedly obstructing the duties of the Central Election Commission by publishing false articles.

Earlier, Sky Daily reported several articles in January stating that 'the army, in a joint operation with the U.S. military, transferred the 99 Chinese spies arrested at the election training center to the U.S. side in Okinawa, Japan, and during the interrogation process, they confessed to all charges of election interference.'

The Central Election Commission rebutted this by stating, 'It is a clear falsehood,' and requested police investigation. The U.S. Forces Korea also commented that 'everything reported is false.'
