The Ministry of the Interior and Safety noted on the 9th that it will conduct a safety management survey of newly installed elevators targeting manufacturers and importers. The survey period is from the following day until December.
This survey will focus on companies that installed elevators newly this year or violated safety certification standards last year. The plan is to thoroughly examine whether safety certification standards under the Elevator Safety Management Act were adhered to during installation and whether self-assessment criteria for the safety of elevators and components were followed.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety explained, "Companies found to have violated regulations as a result of the survey will face strict measures, including referral to the police," and added, "In particular, companies that violated safety certification standards will have their safety verified for the violations. If they do not pass the verification, administrative actions will be taken to ensure that other elevators installed by the company are also verified for compliance."
