On the 8th, it was reported that Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo would resign from his position to run for the presidential election.

Kim will resign from his position after the Cabinet meeting that day and is expected to proceed with the reinstatement procedures of the People Power Party in order to run for the early presidential election scheduled for June 3.

Minister Kim is currently leading in approval ratings among conservative presidential candidates in various opinion polls. On the 7th, a day prior, 125 former National Assembly members held a press conference urging Minister Kim to run for the presidential election.

In response, Minister Kim, when asked by reporters on the 7th about "whether he would run for president," said, "I have not made any decision yet" and added that he is contemplating many things. He also noted regarding the "urging of former National Assembly members to run for the presidential election," that "they are saying such things because they are thirsty."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Employment and Labor is scheduled to hold a retirement ceremony for Minister Kim at 3 p.m. at the Government Sejong Center.
