The day after former President Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment and the first weekend on the 5th, both pro- and anti-impeachment sides will hold large-scale rallies in downtown Seoul.
The pro-impeachment side, Emergency Action for Immediate Resignation of Yoon Suk-yeol and Social Reform, plans to hold a rally starting at 4 p.m. at the East Crossroad of Gyeongbokgung Palace. This will be a large final rally for the 'Day of Victory Citizens' Parade' with an expected attendance of 100,000. The Candlelight Action is also planning a rally of 10,000 people in front of Sungnyemun at 4 p.m.
On the other hand, the anti-impeachment side, which declared a 'struggle of disobedience' against the Constitutional Court's decision to impeach former President Yoon, plans to hold a rally demanding 'invalidity of the impeachment.'
The Citizens' Movement for a Proper Republic, led by Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church, and the Free Unification Party will hold a 'Gwanghwamun Citizens' Convention' in the area near Donghwa Duty Free Shop to Daehanmun at 1 p.m. The number reported to the police is 200,000.
The Free Unification Party also claimed the day before, immediately after the Constitutional Court's ruling, that 'from this time forward, we will carry out a citizen disobedience movement against the unjust ruling of the Constitutional Court to achieve stronger solidarity and national unity.'
The Christian organization Save Korea initially reported a plan to hold a rally of 20,000 people in Yeouido at 1 p.m., but canceled it shortly after the Constitutional Court's ruling.
