A man in his 40s, angry about the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, called the police to say he would destroy the Democratic Party's headquarters and the Election Commission.
According to the Gimpo Police Station in Gyeonggi Province, a call came in to 112 around noon on the 4th, stating, 'I will destroy the Democratic Party headquarters and the Election Commission completely.'
The police tracked the caller's location using GPS and found a man in his 40s, identified as A, on the street in Yangchon-eup, Gimpo City.
A was reported to have made threatening remarks out of anger over the Constitutional Court's decision to uphold President Yoon's impeachment.
After an on-site investigation, the police assessed that the likelihood of A actually committing the crime was low, and they decided to take him home before handing him over to his family.
A police spokesperson noted, 'After giving A a stern warning, we decided to take him home,' adding, 'We judged that this was not a situation for a criminal charge.'
