Korean history instructor Jeon Hangil made a special appearance in the Netflix series "When Life Gives You Tangerines," but it was revealed late that all of his scenes had been edited out.

On the 2nd, the production team of "When Life Gives You Tangerines" stated, "It is true that Jeon Hangil made a special appearance, but various edits and reshoots were conducted to present a higher quality work." It is reported that the scenes Jeon was set to appear in featured a professional reenactor.

Earlier, Jeon noted in a Korean history exam cafe in 2023 that he had made a special appearance in "When Life Gives You Tangerines." He reportedly participated in the filming considering the possibility of a supporting role in a scene related to the internet lecture business founded by "Geummyeong" (played by IU) in Act 4.

However, as his appearance did not surface even in the final episode released on the 28th of last month, questions arose among some viewers. There were speculations suggesting that Jeon's recent display of political leanings might have influenced the editing process. He has participated multiple times as a speaker in rallies opposing the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-youl.

However, the production team drew the line at such interpretations. They explained that the editing of Jeon's appearance had already been completed before the related issues arose.
