A fire broke out in Andong Hahoe Village, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

According to the Andong Fire Department, around 8:05 p.m. on the 3rd, a fire occurred in Hahoe Village, Pungcheon-myeon, Andong City, North Gyeongsang Province, burning down two houses.

Fire authorities deployed about 30 personnel and eight fire trucks, managing to contain the blaze within 50 minutes by around 8:55 p.m. They are currently removing burnt roofs to extinguish remaining embers.

The Hahoe Village Preservation Society noted, "It seems that a spark flew out of the chimney while using a traditional stove in a thatched house," adding, "There were no casualties."

Fire authorities stated, "We are investigating the exact cause of the fire."
