A robbery convict escaped after cutting off his electronic bracelet, and a public search was issued, but he was caught within a day.

According to the Ministry of Justice on the 31st, the Suncheon Probation Office, in cooperation with the Yeosu Police Station, urgently arrested Lee Tae-hoon, 48, near Pyeongtaek Station on the morning of that day.

Lee cut off his electronic bracelet and fled from a restroom in a mart in Yeocheon-dong, Yeosu, around 12:51 p.m. the previous day.

It is reported that Lee took a taxi from Yeosu to Suncheon and then used a bus and taxi again to move to Gwangju, Jeonju, and Cheonan.

The police tracked Lee by identifying his movement through closed-circuit television (CCTV) and vehicle checks, and apprehended him near Pyeongtaek Station after 24 hours.

Lee is reported to have received an order for the attachment of an electronic bracelet for past robbery charges.

He received a trial verdict in 2014 and served 10 years in prison before being released in November of last year.

The police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident regarding Lee and charge him with violations related to the attachment of electronic devices.
