Students from Korea University, Chungnam National University, and Pusan National University have confirmed their return. Following the 'Big 5,' including Seoul National University and Yonsei University, the return of medical students from major universities is becoming the norm.

According to the education and medical sectors on the 30th, Korea University’s medical school initially allowed additional registrations until the 31st, as the number of students wishing to return increased after the registration deadline on the 21st. All students completed their return applications on that day. It was also reported that all students from Chungnam National University’s medical school returned by the deadline on the 28th. Pusan National University’s medical school received return applications until the 27th, and it is estimated that most have returned.

With this, Korea University, Chungnam National University, and Pusan National University are joining the Big 5, including Seoul National University, Yonsei University, Sungkyunkwan University, Catholic University, and Ulsan University, further expanding the trend of returns.

However, Kyunghee University extended the deadline for returns from the 28th to the night of the 30th due to differing opinions, while Gachon University, Konkuk University, Keimyung University, Dankook University, Daegu Catholic University, Ajou University, Wonkwang University, and Hanyang University will close return applications on the 31st. Universities that have already returned may also accept additional registrations.

The government plans to gather the return rates by the 31st and will determine whether there is a 'full return' this week. Even if not all students return, if it is deemed possible to conduct normal classes, the quota for medical schools for the academic year 2026 will be restored to the existing 3,058 students.
