The cherry blossoms (king cherry trees) in the Gyeonggi area are expected to begin blooming from April 2 and be in full bloom around April 10.

The Gyeonggi Forest Environment Research Institute stated on March 30 that cherry blossoms are predicted to bloom at Anyang Surisan on April 2, at the former Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office in Suwon on April 3, and at Osan Mulhyanggi Arboretum.

Blooming dates are forecasted to be April 5 at Gwangju Namhansanseong, April 7 at Bucheon Wonmisan, April 8 at Gimpo Suansan, and April 8 at Namyangju Chukryeongsan.

Compared to last year, this is about 3 to 5 days later.

The Gyeonggi Forest Environment Research Institute, in collaboration with the National Arboretum, predicted the blooming dates by observing flower buds at seven cherry blossom spots in the province, including Anyang Surisan, based on data from 'climate change vulnerable forest plant species seasonal monitoring' conducted over the past 11 years at four mountain areas (Namyangju Chukryeongsan, Yangpyeong Yongmunsan, Anseong Seowunsan, Gwangju Namhansanseong).

An official from the Gyeonggi Forest Environment Research Institute noted, "This year, the early spring temperatures are lower than last year, so blooming is expected to be delayed," and added, "Cherry blossoms will be in full bloom about 3 to 7 days after blooming, so I hope this will be helpful for planning outings."
