The number of fatalities caused by the 'Gyeongbuk wildfire' has increased by 2.

According to the forest authorities on the 29th, a body presumed to be that of an 80-year-old man, referred to as Mr. A, was discovered in a dwelling in Dancheon-myeon, Uiseong County, the previous afternoon. Police are investigating the exact cause of death, believing that Mr. A could not escape his home around the 25th, when the fire was raging in the Dancheon area.

In the afternoon of the 28th, a man in his 60s, referred to as Mr. B, from Hwame-ri, Seongbuk-eup, Yeongyang County, died in the hospital. Mr. B had been undergoing treatment for serious injuries sustained in the wildfire that ignited in Uiseong on the 25th and spread to Yeongyang County. He is the brother-in-law of the late Lee, the village chief of Samui, who perished in the fire in Samui Valley on the 25th.

The number of fatalities due to the Gyeongbuk wildfire has risen to a total of 26, including the late Captain Park Hyun-woo, who died when a helicopter crashed during firefighting efforts. The deceased residents include 9 from Yeongdeok, 7 from Yeongyang, 4 each from Andong and Cheongsong, and 1 from Uiseong.
