The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the morning of 10th that it will investigate whether there were any violations of the Serious Accident Punishment Act related to an explosion at the United Terminal Korea business site in Ulsan's Ulju County, which resulted in one death.

The Serious Accident Punishment Act stipulates that employers or managers are to be punished in the event of a serious incident causing the death of one or more workers at business sites.

The United Terminal Korea, where the incident occurred, was established in 1998 and is a terminal company for storing and transferring liquid cargo.

According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the fire department, an explosion occurred around 11:15 a.m. that day in a tank storing liquid cargo at the United Terminal Korea tank terminal in Onsan-eup, Ulju County, Ulsan.

As a result of the incident, one of two workers in their 30s present at the scene was transported to a hospital in an unconscious state. The individual, referred to as A, was reported to have died around 3 p.m. after undergoing surgery. The other worker sustained serious injuries.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor issued an order to partially suspend work related to the incident, considering that the explosion occurred during work at the top of the tank.
