Former Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Chief Kim Bong-sik has been arrested and indicted along with Korean National Police Agency Chief Jo Ji-ho on charges of important duties related to insurrection during the state of emergency. As a result, the position of the current chief of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency remains vacant, with Director General Park possibly taking on the role as acting chief until his promotion.
Director General Park, who is from Daejeon and is part of the 10th Police Academy class, has held positions such as ▲Director of the Police Agency's Crime Information Bureau ▲Director of the Police Agency's Crisis Management Center ▲Chief of the Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul. Under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, he also served in ▲the personnel verification team of the Presidential Transition Committee ▲deployed to the National Security Situation Room in the Presidential Office ▲Director General of the Police Bureau in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
Jo Jeong-rae, Security Information Officer (Senior Superintendent) at the Police Agency, Nam Jae-hyun (Senior Superintendent) deployed to the National Security Situation Room, and Park Jong-seob (Senior Superintendent) deployed to the Office for Government Policy Coordination have also been nominated for promotion to Superintendent.
