Medical students who had left their school in protest of the increase of 2,000 students on the medical school campus declared their return on the 12th.
The Korean Association of Medical Schools and Graduate Schools (Medical Students' Association) announced their return to school on the same day at the Korean Medical Association Organization building in Yongsan, Seoul, while presenting a joint statement on 'normalizing medical education' together with the Education Committee, the Health and Welfare Committee, and the Korean Medical Association Organization.
In the statement, the Medical Students' Association promised, “We trust the National Assembly and the government, and we will work to normalize medical education and the healthcare system by all students returning to school.” However, the Medical Students' Association did not disclose a specific return date.
On that day, the National Assembly, the Korean Medical Association Organization, and the Medical Students' Association requested the government to “prepare comprehensive measures so that medical students can return to education through normalizing the academic schedule.” Additionally, they demanded, “Please form a consultative body to restore the damage caused in the healthcare field due to the excessive policies of the previous government and ensure participation from those involved for long-term improvements in the education and training environment.”
