The National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) announced on the 30th that it has appointed Dr. Kim Sung-baek as the Director General of the National Strategic Research Headquarters, in charge of large-scale infrastructure and radiation.

Director General Kim graduated from Chungnam National University in 2000 with a degree in astronomy and space science, and received his master's and doctoral degrees in sensor fusion (inertial navigation) from Yonsei University. He has been working at the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) since 2005.

Director General Kim will be responsible for evaluating and managing the progress of support projects in large-scale infrastructure and radiation, as well as project planning, proposal of medium- to long-term development plans, policy establishment and advisory, budget allocation, promotion of result discovery and utilization, investigation and analysis of research demand, technology forecasting, and research trends, along with external cooperation for two years.
