Lee Hyung-hoon has been appointed as the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The Vice Minister oversees policies in the healthcare sector.

The new Vice Minister, Lee Hyung-hoon, was born in 1966 and graduated from Chosun University affiliated high school and Yonsei University with a degree in business administration. He also earned a master's degree in public policy from Seoul National University.

He entered public service through the 38th administrative examination. He has served as the Director of Mental Health Policy at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Director of Health and Medical Policy at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and Director of Health Industry Policy at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and was dispatched to the World Health Organization (WHO). Since March, he has been serving as the head of the Korea Public Tissue Bank, overseeing the functions and management of public organizations in Korea.

The Presidential Office noted, “Lee Hyung-hoon is a person with conflict mediation skills and exemplary leadership, and has a high understanding of the welfare sector overall. He possesses meticulous planning ability, which has garnered high evaluation for his problem-solving skills,” adding that he is “the right person to quickly resolve the medical crisis and lead the recovery and normalization of the health sector based on meticulous planning capability.
