Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity (KOSAC) announced on the 26th that it has signed a sponsorship agreement with Samsung Electronics, the Korean Mathematical Society, and the Korean Physical Society to develop a Korean delegation for the International Mathematical and Physical Olympiads. This agreement was initiated when Samsung Electronics expressed its intention to support the Korean delegation for the International Mathematical and Physical Olympiads to raise social awareness of the importance of basic science and contribute to the cultivation of future scientific talents. Through this sponsorship, Samsung Electronics plans to support the education, selection, and competition participation of the Korean delegation for the International Mathematical and Physical Olympiads and will provide additional scholarships to award winners.
The Korea Patent Attorneys Association held the 1st Patent Attorneys Day ceremony on the afternoon of the 26th at the KBIZ Hall of the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Earlier, the association designated June 26th as Patent Attorneys Day during its 64th regular general meeting in February. This date marks the founding day of its predecessor, the Joseon Patent Attorneys Association. The ceremony was held under the theme 'Wings to ideas, a future to the world: with patent attorneys.' Activities included a commemorative video showcasing the history of patent attorneys, a slogan chant, recognition of those who contributed to the development of domestic intellectual property systems and patent attorney systems, and a discussion session inviting corporate representatives.
The National Museum of Science unveiled a special exhibition titled 'Asset: Resurrected by AI – Jeong Yak-jeon, the scientist of Joseon who recorded the sea' to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the Korea Science and Technology Hall. The exhibition will take place from the 27th to August 24th at the Korea Science and Technology Hall. The special exhibition will focus on the work 'Asset' by the Joseon practical scholar Jeong Yak-jeon, exploring the significance of 'Asset' as interpreted through the lens of modern science, rather than just as a practical book. Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI) is hosting the 1st International Workshop on Multipurpose Synchrotron Radiation Facilities from the 25th to the 27th at the Osong Convention Center (OSCO) in Chungbuk. The workshop will feature leading scientists from synchrotron radiation institutions in the United States, Japan, China, Germany, and France who will visit Korea to share the latest upgrades, advanced beamline technologies, and research results from each country. After the workshop, major overseas speakers will visit the site planned for the construction of the multipurpose synchrotron radiation facility in Cheongju, Chungbuk, while also conducting individual meetings to seek collaboration with domestic researchers.
