The black object crossing in front of the moon is the International Space Station (ISS). This photo of the space station orbiting Earth was taken in front of the partially lit enormous moon in 2019. The picture was taken in Palo Alto, California, and the exposure time was only 1 second. In contrast, it took about 0.5 seconds to pass across the entire moon. Upon closer examination of this clear ISS silhouette, the outlines of numerous solar panels and the truss, which forms the structure of the space station, become apparent. In the lower left, the bright but rugged Tycho crater is visible, along with the bright terrain known as the highlands and the smooth, dark areas of the maria.
