Sabudriya Star Trail./Courtesy of Branko Nadj

The Savudrija lighthouse, a guide for ships sailing in the Adriatic Sea in Croatia, shines under the night sky. Established in the early 19th century, this lighthouse is illuminated by the North Star, an even older guide. In the photograph, the North Star draws the shortest star trail relative to the center of the northern celestial sphere and is positioned at the rotational center of all stars. This beautiful night sky is the result of blending 400 shots taken for 30 seconds each with a fixed tripod and camera, according to the Earth's rotation.
