Merck Life Science in Korea announced on the 2nd that it will hold the '2025 Promising Bio Startup Discovery Contest.'
Any startup developing bio and synthetic new drugs in Korea can apply for the contest. Applications can be submitted from the 2nd to August 14 through the official website of Merck Life Science (https://bit.ly/431zFZg). The event is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups' K-Bio Lab Hub.
Participating corporations will be evaluated by a panel of judges composed of bio process experts from Merck Life Science. Evaluations will focus on criteria such as the multidimensional impact of technology, research innovation and development stage, and the feasibility of solving challenges. Through this, the four teams that advance to the finals will receive Merck's process solution products and services, as well as membership programs from the K-Bio Lab Hub. There will also be opportunities for corporations to present during the awards session at the BioPlus-InterPhex Korea (BIX 2025) event this year.
Kim Yong-seok, head of the Process Solutions business at Merck Life Science in Korea, noted, "This is an event that reflects Merck's commitment to supporting the growth of excellent bio startups," adding, "We will continue to strive for the development of the Korean pharmaceutical and bio industry and the creation of a bio ecosystem." Since 2014, Merck has been supporting scientific research and technological innovation through various partnership programs in North America, Europe, and Asia, continuing to invest in the development of a global bio ecosystem.
