The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) will host a symposium titled "The Age of Entanglement: Coexistence with the Non-Human" on the 24th at 1 p.m. at KAIST in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul. The symposium will feature researchers discussing their work with the non-human and posing questions about the entanglement between humans and non-humans. Researchers from various fields, including physicists, literacy researchers, technology and culture researchers, and ecological philosophers, will present on the technological beings that transcend humanity, and engage in a comprehensive discussion. The symposium will be open to the public.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 19th that students representing South Korea at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) have received third place awards and special awards. ISEF is the largest international science and technology competition for youth, with over 1,800 young people from around 70 countries participating this year. South Korea has achieved the remarkable feat of winning awards for four consecutive years, starting with a fourth place in 2022, a fourth place in 2023, a second place last year, and a third place this year.
The Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) will host a symposium titled "The Era of Energy Transition: A Dialogue Between Science and Society Surrounding Nuclear Power" on the 23rd at the Muunjae Memorial Hall. This symposium aims to shed light on the role of nuclear power through dialogue between science and technology and the humanities and social sciences. The discussions will focus on topics such as "The Evolution and Challenges of Nuclear Technology," "The System and Challenges of Risk Governance in South Korean Nuclear Power," and "Issues and Directions of Nuclear Organization-Public Relations," followed by a comprehensive discussion. The symposium is open to anyone who wishes to participate with on-site registration.
The Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI) will hold a joint forum with the National Union on the theme "Opening the Future Through Dialogue: Designing Science and Technology Innovation Together with Citizens" on the 21st at 3 p.m. in Meeting Room 8 of the Science and Technology Convention Center. The forum is designed to share the responsibilities and roles of future science and technology that citizens' organizations and policy research institutions expect, and to propose government policy directions and agendas. This forum, conducted both online and in-person, will be available for anyone to watch on the STEPI TV YouTube channel.
