The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute announced on the 15th that Chief Researcher Chul-Hwa Song of the Reactor System Safety Research Department has been selected as a fellow of the American Nuclear Society in 2025.
Fellowship in the American Nuclear Society is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of technology through original research achievements in the field of nuclear science and technology, as well as leadership in academia and industry.
Chief Researcher Song has been internationally recognized for his contributions in leading research and development and higher education in the field of nuclear energy for 40 years, particularly in the development of new reactors and enhancement of safety. Since joining the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute in 1985, he has been working as a researcher. He has been actively involved in organizations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD/NEA), and has served as a Commissioner on the International Committee of the American Nuclear Society and as chair of the thermal hydraulics institutional sector committee.
Chief Researcher Chul-Hwa Song noted, "It is a great honor to be selected as a fellow through the recommendations and evaluations of international experts as a domestic researcher," and expressed, "I deeply thank the institute and fellow researchers who have supported my international activities."
