A 50-year-old motorcycle repairman saved two lives through organ donation and passed away.
The Korea Organ Donation Agency announced on the 15th that Shin Gil-seung, 59, died after donating his heart and liver to two people at Inje University Haeundae Paik Hospital on March 24. He also donated human tissues such as bones, cartilage, and blood vessels. Shin collapsed at home on March 7 and was taken to the hospital for treatment, but he did not regain consciousness.
Born in Busan, Shin dreamed of becoming a motorcycle racer in his childhood. He repaired motorcycles while operating a motorcycle shop for over 30 years. After work and on holidays, he volunteered for wallpaper and flooring services for neighbors. With his diligent personality, he was also devoted to his family.
Shin often said, "I want to do something good to save someone at the end of life." His family respected Shin's wish to help those in need and decided on organ donation.
Shin's son left this letter through the donation agency: "I am proud that my father did something good and left. Please stay happy in heaven. I love you."
