Bundang CHA Hospital of CHA University reported on the 12th that Professor Kim Min-young of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine received the 'Seokjeon (石荃) Shin Jeong-soon Academic Award' at the 2025 Spring Academic Conference of the Korean Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine. This award is given to outstanding researchers for their papers in memory of the late Shin Jeong-soon, a pioneer of rehabilitation medicine in Korea, and the former president of Severance Hospital.
Professor Kim is an authority in treating brain disorders. He has numerous cases of treating cerebral palsy with umbilical cord blood. Professor Kim implemented a combination treatment of erythropoietin in pediatric patients with cerebral palsy. The combination treatment exhibited high efficacy not only in clinical settings but also in animal experiments.
Since 2022, Professor Kim has served as the co-director of the Clinical Research Support Project Team for Advanced Regenerative Medicine designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Professor Kim noted, “I will conduct multifaceted research for the recovery of patients with intractable brain function damage.” Bundang CHA Hospital was designated as a national research-centered hospital in 2013 and is researching techniques to treat intractable diseases with stem cells.
